This story, is hopefully not one that would be condoned today due to the nature of the country at present.

One night after a Dance at the Black Horse, I and ? chatted up a couple of girls and offered to see them home. Unfortunately for us, the Girls came from the area of Catcott, now with neither ? or me having a car we were in a predicament, Ah ha!! said I, we will borrow my Dads car, its always locked away in the Garage and he leaves the keys in the kitchen.

So of we walked to Avalon Road to collect the keys and give the girls a lift home, we got the keys okay and had a kiss and a cuddle whilst it was still parked in the Garage.

To cut a long story short well this part anyway, we took the Girls home.
About three weeks later we met up with them again in the Black Horse so obviously we offered to take them home again.
This time, when I tried to start the car, all it did was cough and splutter, no matter what ? and I did, we could not get the Bloody thing to start.

The Girls straight away said how are we to get home, we walked them to the telephone kiosk at Parkway shops, the first thing we did was phone the Taxi office to ask the costs, well it was more than what we had between us, so that was out.
The next thing we did, we phoned the Police, now they were not really chuffed when we explained the circumstances and asked them to act as a Taxi to get them home, we told the Police that was all we could think off so we left them there and they did come for them.
Well you can guess what their comments were the next time we met up

Now this all happened in 1964 and it was only this November 2007, that I plucked up the courage to ask my Dad, if he had realised I had taken the car, so had tampered with it so as I couldn't take it again.

He was surprised when I told him all about it but assured me that he hadn't known I had taken it and said I must just have given it too much choke and it was flooded (young ones today most likely don't know what that all means) Anyway he said
